Generator maintenance plans
Choose Gold (two visits a year) or Silver (one visit a year) for your air-cooled or liquid-cooled standby generator. Every visit follows the same written checklist.
Generator maintenance plans: an overview
A standby generator is an engine. Like any engine, it needs oil, filters, spark plugs and a clean, tight electrical system, and it needs someone to look at it with a trained eye. The difference is that a generator often sits for months between real outages, so problems can build up quietly until the day it’s needed.
Kelm’s Standby Power System Preventive Maintenance Agreement puts that work on a schedule. There are two contracts, one for air-cooled generators and one for liquid-cooled generators, and each comes in two packages: Gold, with two maintenance visits a year, and Silver, with one visit a year.
Every visit covers the same comprehensive inspection and maintenance checklist, listed below. If you also want your generator watched around the clock, our Generac Mobile Link monitoring plan includes the Silver Package, and if your generator has a fault, we’re notified and send a technician out to correct it. Call 409-316-9834 for plan details.
What’s included
What this work typically covers. Your scope depends on your home and equipment.
Gold Package
Two maintenance visits a year, for air-cooled or liquid-cooled generators.
Silver Package
One maintenance visit a year, for air-cooled or liquid-cooled generators.
11-point checklist
Spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil and filter, simulated outage, voltage and frequency, fuel line, battery, connections, leaks, noises and vibrations.
Simulated outage
We simulate a utility power outage (with your approval) to confirm the system takes over.
Monitoring option
The Generac Mobile Link monitoring plan includes the Silver Package and fault response from Kelm.
Optional auto-renew
Keep your plan going year after year with auto-renewal using a card on file, or renew yourself.

A plan is a good fit if
- You want the generator checked before hurricane season every year
- Your unit is past its first year and due for regular service
- You don’t want to track oil changes and plug replacements yourself
- You’d like a written record of service
- Your generator ran long hours during a recent outage

The fine print, in plain English
- One-year agreement. Each maintenance agreement is valid for one year.
- Optional auto-renewal. Choose auto-renew and your plan renews each year using the card on file, until you cancel in writing before the renewal date.
- When maintenance starts. If your generator is already due for service when you sign up, that visit is scheduled separately. Included maintenance begins with the next annual service cycle.
- Monitoring is a 12-month term. Pay yearly or monthly for 12 months. Cancelling early means the rest of the term is due.
- Fault visits. Monitoring customers aren’t charged a service call fee when we come out to correct a fault. Gold or Silver without monitoring: repair visits carry a service call fee.
- Maintenance, not insurance. The plan covers maintenance service. It can’t guarantee a generator will start or run, and it doesn’t cover losses from an outage, such as spoiled food or lost business.
Pricing depends on your generator type and package. Call 409-316-9834 for plan details.

Maintenance Plans FAQ
Common questions about this service.
What’s the difference between Gold and Silver?
Gold includes two maintenance visits a year; Silver includes one. Both follow the same checklist, and both are available for air-cooled and liquid-cooled generators.
How long does a plan last?
The service agreement is valid for one year. You can choose auto-renewal so it renews automatically, or renew it yourself.
How does auto-renewal work?
If you choose it, your agreement and selected services renew automatically each year and the card on file is charged. It applies until you cancel in writing before the renewal date.
My generator is due for service right now. Is that covered when I sign up?
Maintenance already due when you enroll isn’t part of the plan and is scheduled separately. Your included maintenance starts with the next annual service cycle.
Does the plan cover repairs?
The plan is a maintenance agreement. If we find something that needs repair, we explain it before doing any extra work. Monitoring plan customers get fault visits without a service call fee.
How much does a plan cost?
It depends on your generator type and the package you choose. Call 409-316-9834 for plan details.
