Generator remote monitoring
With Kelm’s Mobile Link monitoring plan, if your generator has a fault, we’re notified and send a technician out to correct it, with no service call fee.
Generator remote monitoring: an overview
Most homeowners only find out their generator has a problem when the power goes out and nothing happens. Remote monitoring changes that. Generac’s Mobile Link connects your generator to the internet and reports its status, exercise runs, outages and faults.
Kelm’s Mobile Link monitoring plan goes a step further than an app on your phone. When your generator reports a fault, Kelm is notified and sends a technician out to correct the issue, and monitoring customers aren’t charged a service call fee for that visit. The plan also includes the Silver maintenance package, one full checklist visit a year, for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled generators.
Monitoring plans run for a 12-month term, paid yearly or monthly. If your generator isn’t able to connect over Wi-Fi, a Mobile Link LTE device may be needed, and once installed, it’s yours to keep. We also help Generac and Kohler owners get Mobile Link or OnCue connected and working again when the connection drops.
What’s included
What this work typically covers. Your scope depends on your home and equipment.
Kelm is notified of faults
When your generator raises a fault, the alert comes to Kelm, not just to your phone.
A technician is sent out
We send a technician to correct the issue, with no service call fee for monitoring customers.
Silver Package included
One maintenance visit a year with the full 11-point checklist, for air-cooled or liquid-cooled units.
Exercise and outage status
See that the weekly exercise ran and when the unit starts, runs and returns to standby.
Wi-Fi or LTE connection
We connect Mobile Link over your Wi-Fi, or with a Mobile Link LTE device if Wi-Fi won’t work. The LTE device is yours to keep.
12-month term
Pay yearly or monthly over the 12-month term, with optional auto-renewal.

Monitoring troubleshooting we help with
- The app says the generator is offline or not communicating
- You changed your Wi-Fi router, network name or password
- Alerts stopped arriving, or arrive late
- The exercise schedule in the app doesn’t match what the unit does
- You bought a home with a generator and need to take over the account

Remote Monitoring FAQ
Common questions about this service.
What happens when my generator has a fault?
Kelm is notified and sends a technician out to correct the issue. Monitoring plan customers aren’t charged a service call fee for that visit.
How fast will a technician come during a storm?
We get to monitored customers as quickly as we safely can. During a hurricane or widespread outage, safety and road conditions decide timing, which is why the yearly maintenance visit matters so much.
What maintenance is included?
The monitoring plan includes the Silver Package: one maintenance visit a year with the full checklist. If your generator is already due for service when you enroll, that visit is scheduled separately, and included maintenance starts with the next annual cycle.
How long is the commitment?
Monitoring plans run for a 12-month term, paid yearly in full or monthly for 12 months. If you cancel before the term ends, the rest of the term is due. Ask us about optional auto-renewal.
My generator has no Wi-Fi signal. Can it be monitored?
Yes. A Mobile Link LTE device may be needed. If so, it’s a one-time addition and the device is yours to keep.
Does monitoring work during a power outage?
On Wi-Fi, your router and internet need power too. An LTE device connects over the cellular network instead. We’ll recommend what fits your setup.
I have a Kohler generator. Can you help?
Our monitoring plan uses Generac Mobile Link. We can still help Kohler owners get OnCue connected; call and tell us about your unit.
